Original Items: One-of-a-kind. This is a No. 1 Tropical Service Dress Uniform set that possibly belonged RAF Air Chief Marshal and Victoria Cross recipient during World War Two. Unfortunately, the uniform is not named but further dedicated research should be able to reveal the owner, based on his numerous awards and rank in the RAF. While this appears to be a WWII issue uniform his Air Chief Marshal rank was not attained until retirement in post war years. Another possibility is that someone replaced the rank Epaulettes at some point. However, there is no question that all parts of this uniform are authentic, what is in question is do all these pieces belong together.
Included in this high quality incredible uniform are the following:
– No. 1 Tropical Service Dress Officer Uniform tunic in Khaki marked to the rank of Air Chief Marshal, interior is Air Ministry Stamped. Approximate size is US 42 and offered in excellent condition. Features embroidered RAF wings and an astonishing 15 medal ribbons which include the Victoria Cross and Distinguished Flying Cross as well as WWI medals.
– No. 1 Tropical Service Dress Officer Uniform trousers in very good condition.
Overall a wonderfully appealing set that very well may have belonged to of the RAF’s most decorated and highest ranking officers of WWII. The question is, who?
