Original Item: Only One Item Available. The Norfolk regiment was raised in the late 17th century and after The Battle of ALMANZA in 1707 during the War of the Spanish Succession, Queen Anne granted the regiment the right to bear the figure of BRITANNIA as an award for their bravery.
Britannia was then adopted as the regimental badge and is a privilege they have enjoyed ever since. Here we have a charming cut glass wine decanter from the 19th century from the regiment’s officer’s mess with the Britannia cypher and the Regiment’s name in scroll beneath, reading:
1st BATT. EAST NORFOLK, 9, REGT.
A lovely glass item that no doubt served many glasses of Claret or Port to the serving officers when toasting Queen Victoria.
Measures – 10″ tall and 5″ at widest point. Ready to be filled and served, one slight chip to upper lip.
