Original Items: One Set Only. This dates from the turn of the Victorian era in 1901 to the reign of King Edward VII, who died in 1910. The set consists of the standard Shako Helmet of dark blue cloth, with deep green roping showing a black hunting Horn device as a Shako plate. The Shako comes with its original black leather bill (peak) and matching chin strap. It has various markings to the interior and comes in its original steel Carry Case specially designed for a shako helmet.
Together with the shako comes the deep green almost black tunic covered in the same roping as the shako helmet. The Collar and cuffs show the King’s Royal Rifle Regiments RED facings.
Of course dating from almost 120 years ago both Helmet and Tunic are in size small by today’s sizes but were appropriate to the time. Chest measures approximately 30-32 with a waist of 28-30. The Shako is marked 21, so it is about 6 5/8 – 6 3/4 inches in size.
A scarce Shako and Tunic Set, ready to display.
