Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a lovely British / Canadian Army Officer’s Dress Peaked Visor Cap, intended for a Colonel or Brigadier (General) rank. It has the correct single row of gilt raised bullion oak leaves across the peak. Higher ranks would have a double row of bullion oak leaves, while lower ranks would have just a bullion band. Dating from WWII, the size is quite large, probably a 60cm / 7 1/2in. or a bit larger.
Dating from the mid-late 1950s, the style is pretty much identical to that used during WWII. The front has the correct Lion over a Queens’s Crown embroidered bullion badge with red and black felt. The interior features Real Roam Leather sweatband, and the top celluloid sweat shield, though dark from age, still has the original makers label under it:
THOMAS & STONE
HAT & CAP MAKERS
97, JERMYN STREET,
ST. JAMES’S.
LONDON. S.W.I.
The cap is really in great shape, showing moderate wear on the interior. The chin strap is still in good shape, and is held in place by buttons bearing the coat of arms of the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps (R.C.O.C.), showing three cannons on a shield over R C O C.
