Original British Pocket Percussion Pistol with Spring Bayonet by William Bond of London c.1845 Original Items

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a really nice little percussion box lock Pocket Pistol, complete with a spring loaded bayonet mounted under the barrel. The three inch triangular bayonet is activated by pulling back on the trigger guard, which then swings forward and locks into place. This provided some extra protection to the owner once the firearm has been discharged. The bayonet can then be released using the small button on the right side.

Measuring 8″ in overall length, this pistol has a screw off barrel of just 2 3/8″ for easy concealment. Made by the famous BOND dynasty of English Gun Makers this example has nicely engraved, box lock side plates, which are marked Wm. BOND on the left and LONDON on the right. This pistol was made during the tenure of WILLIAM BOND who worked at: 59 LOMBARD STREET, LONDON between 1830 and 1850. His son, EDWARD BOND took over the family business in 1850.

Maker marked this fine pistol even retains its sliding safety (at half cock) located behind the percussion hammer so the weapon could be easily transported while fully loaded and ready for use. The hammer itself is well-engraved in the image of a fish. There are also proof marks on the chamber underside.

In great condition, a most interesting percussion pistol, cleaned and ready to display!
