Original Item: Only One Available. Well this is a sleeper, totally untouched with its entire 240 plus years of patina.
A lovely quality British officer’s Flintlock pistol by JOHN KING of LONDON, signed KING on the lock plate and LONDON on the Barrel. KING worked from 1770-1790. Clearly intended for a serving Officer this pistol with all brass mounts is fully decorated in the military flavor displaying a stand of arms side plate, a butt cap displaying flags and cannons, even the escutcheon displays a crested helmet over battle flags and cannons. In wonderful untouched condition the metalwork is understandably somewhat dull but could be easily be cleaned and polished to great effect. We decided to leave it as is to preserve the patina. The present ramrod is probably a period replacement.
All in all a wonderful Officer’s personal private purchase Flintlock pistol with 8 inch Barrel and 14 inches in overall length, with a beautiful high quality shell carving directly behind the barrel tang.
