Original Item. One of a Kind. H.M.S. VICTORY was Admiral Lord Nelson’s Flagship at the Battle of TRAFALGAR that took place in 1805, at which Lord Nelson was killed in Action. The ship is undoubtedly the most famous British Naval Vessel in history.
It has since been preserved, in dry Dock in Portsmouth’s NAVAL DOCKYARD and is still considered a serving Battleship. Every few years it is restored and certain timbers and Copper cladding is replaced. Hence at those times the retired wood and copper are repurposed for sale to Naval enthusiasts, as a way to offset costs and reduce waste.
Here is a very nice miniature “Ship’s keg” made from the Bowsprit of H.M.S. Victory, most likely intended to hold pens and other small items. It does not look to be intended for use as any kind of drinking container. It has a very nice brass plaque on it marked:-
