Original Items: These are original British-Manufactured and marked stripped breech blocks for the MkIV Martini-Henry rifle. The MkIV featured a longer operating lever and much sturdier extractor, which required that the bottom front of the breech block be rounded to make room.
These particular Mk IV breech blocks were manufactured for the Enfield-Martini .402 caliber trials rifles, and then then were used in the new long-lever Martini-Henry rifle. These were all manufactured at RSAF Enfield. All Enfield-Martini parts were used on the Martini-Henry Mk IV.
These all bear the E-M marking for Enfield-Martini. This marking may be crossed out, and there may be a IV stamped on the block, as well as other markings and proofs. There may also be Nepalese arsenal markings.
Note: Stripped Breech block ONLY. No striker, spring, or retaining nuts included.
