Original Item: One of a Kind. Is it only Englishmen who care so much for their dogs and their horses? Here is a typical Victorian Officer’s Military Inkwell made out of his horse’s hoof. It is faintly engraved on the top :-
“CAVALIER”
18th OCT 1897.
A fine Charger’s Fore Hoof, mounted in very nicely decorated Silver plated nickel mounts. The top has a hinged hatch to top opening to reveal a glass inkwell with white metal mounts. Silver plating overall somewhat worn but nevertheless a fine Victoria Officer’s desk accessory. There are the initials S.E.G. at the very front of the horseshoe, but we have not been able to identify them.
