Original items: Only One Set Available. This two piece set consists of dark green tunic with black facings to the collar and black “King’s Crown” buttons, for King Edward VII (1901-1910) showing the traditional Hunting Horn insignia. On the interior of the tunic there is still the original paper maker’s label giving the sizing, manufacturer details and listing it as ROYAL ARMY CLOTHING with a WD and broad arrow marking. The label also lists that it is a RIFLEBDE TUNIC, and size 8.
This set is totally original to circa 1902/05 and is the standard size of that day, around a 35 inch chest with 32 inch waist. Today this set would only fit a healthy 12 year old boy or perhaps a thin 15 year old. Tunic is in very good condition, with all buttons intact, and just a bit of fading to the green accents, which turn golden over time.
The fur skin busby, the pattern of 1869, complete with brass chained chin scales, has a black knot to front mounted with a brass King’s Crown Badge with a black horse hair plume. Interior of busby shows some moth to the lining behind the fur and an almost unused correct leather headband. Some of the fur on the busby top has fallen off over the years, due to exposure to light.
