Original Items: Only One Set Available. The Royal Horse Guards, known as the Blues and Royals are, together with the Life Guards, better known as the Household Cavalry. In simple terms the Horse Guards wore blue tunics with red horsehair plumes on their helmets and the Life Guards wore red tunics with white horse hair plumes.
These are the guys that clatter alongside the Queen on state occasions or sit on their horses guarding Buckingham Palace and other London Royal residences.
This particular set came from a provincial museum in England and has literally not been cleaned in 50+ years.
This is what the set is comprised of-
Original Parade helmet with red horsehair plume (and original length chin strap).
Original cuirass set (Armor), front and back plates with over the shoulder brass articulated straps and leather waist belt.
Blue Melton cloth tunic with red trim and regimental stay bright buttons, complete with gold roping Agliettes to each shoulder.
White leather buckskin Jodhpurs (pants).
Thigh high cavalry heavy black leather boots.
Pair of the white leather Gauntlets.
Black leather document pouch with Royal arms badge to be worn in the middle of the back supported by a polished white leather shoulder belt with brass fittings.
Points of note include-
Blue tunic, there is slight damage to the collar of the jacket that can easily be sewn.
Leather jodhpurs (pants) are dirty and show wear and need some stitching in the crotch.
Leather gauntlets (gloves) In line with British Government disposal regulations the each have a small razor cut to each palm and one is stamped with the official disposal mark of two broad arrow stampings.
Helmet, chinstrap is as originally issued and has never been shortened to fit an individual Trooper, hence the long length.
All you need is a 17 year olds slight physique and a horse!
