Original Item: Only One Available. An original Swan neck cock Flintlock Short Musket/ Fusil in pistol bore .65″, 31″ Barrel, 47″ Overall. Bearing East India Company Rampant Lion logo on lock plate and dated 1808, the first year this logo was adopted. Barrel shows EIC heart motif under numeral 4 (which was a disguised Christian Cross) and marked EARL CAMDEN E16=S. The Heart Motif logo was obsoleted in 1808 in favor of the Rampant Lion.
Fusil features original brass furniture, two ramrod pipes, nose cap, S side plate, trigger guard and butt plate. The butt plate also has the heart motif under a Rack Number 16, the trigger guard also bearing the Rack Number 16, as well as the P 16 impressed into the wood butt stock.
Originating from our 2003 Nepalese palace purchase this is clearly a light musket/fusil from an East Indiaman that sailed between India and Europe during the Napoleonic Wars.
Most unusual and only the second Sea Service musket we have found from this palace Collection to date.
