Original Item: Only One Available. Lovely steel Lock plate with waterproof pan signed CLARKE who worked from 1785 until 1840 from his shop in Holborn, London. Clarke had many British government contracts to supply military muskets but also built bespoke guns making business for well heeled customers.
This single barrel shotgun of approximately 12 bore has a 43.5 long barrel and the fore end is half stocked. Lock is solid and gun seems to be fully functional.
The weapon has engraved steel mounts and still retains a steel ramrod. The piece dates from
approximately 1810 to 1820. Ideal for “over the fireplace gun, most attractive for the country squire in all of us.
