Original Item: Only One Available. British Army General’s uniforms are some of the rarest of all. This uniform jacket is undated but the Queen’s crown style button motif indicates that it is from the post 1954 period. This uniform is in excellent condition, showing no damage and/or staining. The uniform is fully lined, and even the lining is in excellent condition.
The buttons are Queen’s crown Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). They are back marked and are attached with correct period thread. There are several rank pips and 2 piece velvet backed crowns indicating the rank of a Brigadier. In the British army such Officers are only called Brigadiers and not Brigadier Generals. Some pundits classify this rank as somewhere between that of a full bird Colonel and that of a 1 Star, or Brigadier General. Others usually just consider them as Brigadier Generals. The red color wool collar tabs are also for a Brigadier. The epaulettes are very interestingly of the slip on style and not of the more usual sewn on style. There are no perforation holes through them indicating that any previous lower rank insignia was ever pinned through them.
There is a bevo-style cloth tailor’s and name tag sewn into the inside pocket that reads: Moss Bros & Co. LTD. Covent Garden, London, W.C. Phone: Temple Bar. 4477. The rear of this uniform has 2 sewn in blackened belt hooks. Sewn on this jacket are 2 award ribbons of the pre to mid 1950’s period. These ribbons indicate much WWII and pre-WWII service. The awards are for the following awards/medals: the Defense Medal, and the 1939-45 War Medal.
Also include is an original leather Sam Browne belt.
