Original Item: Only One Availble. Measuring 9 1/2″ across, this must have been used as a regular dinner plate and it still bears the Maker’s markings on the rear rim. They unfortunately cannot be read due to years of cleaning and use. The top of the plate is marked:
H-M-S VENERABLE
1796
In addition to the Ship’s name and date to the front there is also the Crest of a Coat of Arms depicting a “Running Horse on a padded bar”, which no doubt was the Ship’s Captains family crest.
Plenty of opportunity of research, Ready to display!
