Original Item. Only One Available. RICHARD W. HOLLIS was a well known London Gunsmith from 1790 until 1850. This is what was a fine double barrel percussion shotgun by this maker that has just come from almost 100 years in storage. The nice back action percussion locks are fully engraved signed by the Maker, with 31″ barrels in approximately 14 bore.
The walnut stock has been broken at the wrist directly behind the lock plates and crudely mended using a multitude of small brads/nails and a loop of twisted wire.Clearly it was then put away and not touched for maybe 150 years. It still presents well, an ideal project for the home gunsmith to rebuild the broken wrist.
