Original Item. Only One Available. Here we have a very nice and quite heavy British 11 bore double barrel percussion shotgun. Signed RICHARDS on the engraved back action lock plates, this probably indicates William Richards of Birmingham England, who took out his patents for the percussion system in 1821. His full name was William Westley Richards, and he ran a BIRMINGHAM factory that became a national Institution before the end of the Victorian Era.
Dating from about 1840 this shotgun was very standard for the time and vast quantities of this type were exported all over the World. The gun is in a very large 11 bore and is quite substantial. It features engraved iron mounts and is fitted with a very nice engraved German silver and steel patch box on the right side of the butt. The honey colored quality walnut stock is very nice, with a few expertly repaired cracks behind the right lock. Comes complete with original zinc- tipped wooden ram rod. Very substantial and dating to about 1840.
Fully cleaned and ready to display!
