Original Item: Only One Available. This came to us straight from a HUGE bayonet collection originating in Europe, curated by a VERY enthusiastic collector. This is a fine example of the Belgian M-1882 T-back Blade Bayonet for the Belgian Comblain Rifle. The Bayonet design Has Great Similarities to the French 1874 Gras Rifle Bayonet, but the the handle is distinctly different. It is not offset, and does not feature any brass fittings, only iron.
The bayonet is 26 inches in overall length, with a 20 1/2 inch long blade. While designed for the model 1882, the bayonet should fit both Model 1870 and 1882 brass and steel framed Belgian Comblain rifles. For more information please see Watts & White, THE BAYONET BOOK, Page 36, Item 84.
It has a nice hooked quillon crossguard, which bears serial number 20224 on one side and 1985 on the other. There are also additional proof marks on the blade, the same as seen on other Belgian Comblain bayonets we have seen. The bayonet comes with its original steel scabbard, which is in very good shape, with just some light surface oxidation, and no dents or bends.
This would make a great addition to any bayonet collection, or could be the perfect accessory for your Belgian M1870 or M1882 Comblain Rifle. Ready to display!
