Original Item: Only One Available. This is very nice Word War One Austro-Hungarian Infantry EM/NCO Visor Cap or Kepi, often called a “Coffee Can Hat”. It is basically a rigid version of the M1915 Field Cap with a rigid fiber or leather visor. Constructed of blue wool cloth over what is most likely cardboard, it has large brass cockade at the top center. Two brass front buttons attach the faux scalloped fold down surround, and the interior has a brown leather sweatband and a brown cotton lining.
The crown of the helmet has a faded maker mark from MORITZ TILLER & Co. of WIEN (Vienna), and also the marking of a costumer, so this cap was likely in service post war, possibly used in movies and plays. This also probably added to the wear significantly, as the cap does have many repairs around the edge. The oilcloth sweatband is missing some large portions, and is also torn in other places. The leather visor also shows quite a bit of wear. It retains the shape well, and would make an excellent display piece.
