Original Item: Only One Available. Australian Light Horse were mounted troops with characteristics of both cavalry and mounted infantry, who served in the Second Boer War and World War I. During the inter-war years, a number of regiments were raised as part of Australia’s part-time military force. These units were gradually mechanised either before or during World War II, although only a small number undertook operational service during the war. A number of Australian light horse units are still in existence today.
This Australian Light Horse “Bandolier” ammunition pouch is in wonderful condition with great markings and solid leather. Each of the 4 pouches bear different manufacturer markings but all have what appears to be a 1916 date while the belt is dated 1915. The overall condition is quite nice and does show signs of faithful use and wear but was cared for throughout the years.
A great undamaged example that comes more than ready for further research and display.
