Original Items. Only One Available. This is a set of two great WWI Red Cross/Medic’s armbands used by the Allied countries. They are different variations, but are both of period construction.
The first armband has an oval shape with a stamp from the French Ministry of War, reading MINISTERE DE LA GUERRE. It has a buckle that pierces against the fabric to hold it in place. It measures roughly 17” long and 3½” at its widest point. There are a couple moth nips on the red cross which is definitely made of wool. The buckle is in good shape with minor oxidation.
The second armband is more rectangular in shape, with a two-piece red cross machine stitched on. There is a name written on a small tag on the back, Mina Jenny, although it is very hard to read and could be spelled differently. The armband itself is 9¾” long, with a total length of 16⅜” with the strap fully extended, and 4” wide. The armband is in great shape, as well as the buckle. The name definitely requires further research.
This is a rare opportunity to find two period medic’s armbands to complete a pair of medic mannequins for a display. Don’t miss out!
