Original Item: Only One Available. Originally manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms & Machine Company as a .577/450 caliber Martini-Henry Mark III Rifle in 1886. Later it was shipped to Egypt where it was converted to .303 caliber in 1905 at the great armory The Citadel in Cairo. This entailed a new barrel and fore end with new front mounts to be manufactured and fitted to the original 1886 receiver and butt assembly.
Faintly marked on the left side of the receiver:
B. S. A. & M. Co
1886
III
The right side of the receiver is marked:
CITADEL 1905
Fortunately this rifle comes with an original P-95 .303 cal. socket bayonet.
Restored to its best condition, this represents a British Antique service rifle that actually served for over 100 years, very hard to find, great condition after a century of service making this a fine example of British Colonial issue from the turn of the century.
