Original Item: Only One Available. This is a double sided African War Axe or Hatchet dating back to when darkest Africa was first being explored in the 1850’s. Most probably from the CONGO RIVER AREA, it is a fearsome weapon with a most unusual flared blade with a sharp edge running the full length of each side. The blade measures 12 1/2″ and is mounted on a copper wire bound wooden hilt with a flared pommel giving an overall length of 17″.
Truly a weapon that meant business and in regular use in Central Africa right up until the dreaded SIMBA REBELLION of the 1960’s.
Fully hand wrought and ready to display!
