Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very fine Italian Flintlock Pistol, made in the typical 18th century style. It has a long barrel of almost 15 inches, with an overall length of the pistol is 22 inches.
The fittings are all of engraved brass, with a highly decorative side plate in floral scrollwork design, with a face embossed in a circle. The “long-eared” butt cap culminates in a grotesque mask, typical for European pistols of the period. The escutcheon, the body of which is still plain, features a coronet on the top, indicating that this was owned by a minor member of the aristocracy. The steel lock is engraved A: GOGGI for Antonio Goggi who worked in the mid 1700’s.
The stock is in very good condition, and the cleaning rod is intact, and retains the carved horn tip. The action is crisp, and holds half and full cock correctly. This pistol is in overall excellent condition and ready to display.
