Original Item: Only One Available. This comes from an old U.S. Collection formed in the 1950’s and 1960’s that we have just received, and had lain untouched for over 50 years. Measuring just 12 1/2 inches in overall length, this very cute and beautiful little German pistol has a barrel length of 7 1/2″. The brass mounts are all delicately engraved and fitted onto a light walnut engraved stock also carved in scroll behind the tang. The front of the barrel is slightly fluted on the inside, but this appears to be decoration, as the rest of the barrel is smooth bored.
The lock is signed with Maker’s name I: KOCK / IN: MAYNTZ, representing JOHANNES ANTON KOCK of what we today call MAINZ in the Rhineland region of Germany. He worked from just 1735 until 1740, a very short career for what was obviously a skilled artisan.
The pistol is in working order, though half-cock does not hold and needs a little work. In overall good condition this has been fully cleaned and is ready to display.
