Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This gently cleaned “sleeper” is just lovely. This is an engraved brass mounted flintlock pistol with 9.35″ iron barrel bearing the maker’s mark in silver and the lock signed with the name:
JOBST A LINZ
Sebastian Jobst worked from 1732 to 1769 see Stockel Volume One, page 593. The wood stock is carved to enhance the engraved mounts, a peach that might well have seen service in the French and Indian War or what in Europe is called the Seven years War of 1754-1761.
The Silver cartouche on the barrel marked:
SJ
LT
AU
Meaning Sebastian Jobst, Linz, Austria.
Interestingly enough Linz Austria is the original hometown of Adolph AH who was born in Linz on April 20th, 1889.
A lovely completely original flintlock pistol offered in “sleeper” condition after more than 250 years of existence making this great genuine 18th century pistol a true Collector’s piece.
