New Made Item: A fantastic Field Grey/Green cotton canvas and leather constructed reproduction of the standard issue WW2 German M31 Breadbag or “Brotbeutel 31” or M-1931 Bread pouch.
The bread bag’s origin dates back to the Prussian armies of Fredrick William I of Brandenburg, although its adoption by the German army in its definitive form did not occur until 1931. Of simple construction but with a very pure form, it was present in all the German armies and political organizations. Its function was as a container for the daily food rations, including the bread that gave it its name, as well as cutlery and cap in one of two compartments. However, in practice, the soldier kept in it all that he might want to have readily available, including the weapon’s cleaning kit. In short, it was an essential component of every German WWII soldier’s gear.
Our stunning M31 Bread Bag reproduction was copied exactly from an original sample exclusively made for IMA, and features steel D rings with belt clasp, as well as sturdy stitched leather straps and correct flat aluminum buttons. Complete with adjustable carry strap.
