New Made Item: In 1938, the klappspaten, or foldable spade, appeared, being the precursor of all modern spades of this kind. Including the 1943 American Copy. Production of the Klappspaten was halted mid-war by its high cost and overlong production time. The end-user was of secondary consideration in this type of decision!
Comes complete with thick black leather carry cover that features correct heavy white stitching and a replicated makers marking with WWII date for added authenticity.
This newly made production is exclusive to IMA and is of the highest quality unlike the flimsy imports from Asia currently available on the market. It was copied directly from an original Klappspaten in the IMA collection. We use a tempered steel blade, with correct screw tight deep red colored ribbed steel locking cuff, hardwood handle all secured with steel pins. We even stamp German WW2 era replicated makers marks with a 1940 date for added authenticity. There is no finer reproduction on the market today, and YES you can actually dig with it!
