New Made Item: Brow Plate Only – Helmet is not included but is available separately.
Copied directly from an original sample in a private collection, this is a quality aluminum reproduction of the rare German WWI helmet shield known as the “brow plate” that were issued to snipers and trench raiding parties. This high quality reproduction brow plate was manufactured in the United Kingdom using top grade casting “aluminium” and finished by hand. This results in an extremely light weight reproduction, weighing in at under 2 lbs, only a fraction of the weight of the heavy steel reproductions and originals. This makes it an ideal addition to the field kit of the Battle re-enactor.
These are designed to hook onto the protruding vent lugs of the traditional Models M1916, M1917 and M1918 German helmets, they were secured with a leather strap and buckle to the rear of the helmet. The Ventilation lugs on smaller helmets were “stepped”, so one size fits all.
Records show that seven and a half million M1916 helmets were produced but only fifty thousand of the brow plates were issued, that’s one in one hundred and fifty! A very hard-to-find original WWI item now available as an excellent reproduction, complete with leather strap and buckle.
Helmet is not included but is available separately.
