Original Item: Mostly manufactured by Hobson and Sons these were made surplus by the Hertfordshire constabulary as a different model Bobby Helmet was adopted.
These helmets, in near excellent condition, come complete with chin strap and have a helmet plate (badge) with the E.R.II cypher to center and Hertfordshire Constabulary in surrounding ribbon amid star burst and Royal Crown to top.
The Rose Top model is the earliest of current models in use since almost Victorian times then being followed by the Ball Top and Comb Top varieties. All models are in danger of extinction due to modernization and the use of riot style helmets becoming more prevalent.
These Bobby Helmets get harder to find by the day as destruction orders are often now issued to obsolete Police items disallowing surplus and hence they never enter the private collecting sector.
