“THE LIST OF CHANGES IN BRITISH WAR MATERIAL contains the original text for the introduction of articles into the British Service. Accompanied by original woodcuts, line drawings and photographs, the references to rifles, car bines, pistols, ammunition, ammunition pouches and bandoliers, swords, lances, bayonets, dirks, etc. have been compiled into four volumes to encompass the period from 1860 until about 1920.
In each volume, the articles are compiled in chronological sequence, by the dates of introduction of the various articles into the Service, and an alphabetic index has been compiled for each volume for the purpose of cross-reference. Volume IV also contains a master index for the set of four books. Volumes are as follows:
Volume I 1860-1886
Volume II 1886-1900
Volume III 1900-1910
Volume IV 1910-circa 1920
The List of Changes is surely the ultimate source of reference for collectors and students of British military weapons, cartridges and accouterments of this period, and will provide a secure basis for further study in any of these fields.”
