Original Items. One-of-a-Kind. This is a phenomenal named HJ grouping including three identification booklets with photographs from 1938, 1941, and 1952, which provides for an unbelievable display of how a young man in the HJ goes through years of indoctrination only for his entire world to crumble down around him and rebuild. The grouping is named to Wilhelm Wehrmeyer, who joined the HJ on May 1st, 1936.
The grouping includes:
● Wehrmeyer’s Late Pattern HJ Fahrtenmesser (trip knife) by Artur Schüttelhofer with Hanger Scabbard – RZM M7/13. Leather washer retained, badge is loose from bakelite shrinking which authenticates it, bubbling in the plating on the pommel. Blade is fair with some oxidation spotting. Scabbard has most of the paint but much is missing near the bottom. Pebbled leather hanger in great shape.
● Wehrmeyer’s handmade HJ knife and sheath, with translucent grips and an enamel HJ knife badge underneath. The sheath is handmade and very crude in a great way. The blade has two small quillion-like spikes for a crossguard. The blade is very oxidized. A fantastic custom-made knife. 6 ⅞” blade, 11 ¼” overall, 7” sheath with belt loop.
● Wehrmeyer’s HJ armband in great service worn shape with some nips and staining, great patina.
● Wehrmeyer’s 1938 dated HJ ID booklet with a photograph of him at 12 years old.
● Wehrmeyer’s 1941 dated HJ ID booklet with a photograph of him at 15 years old.
● Wehrmeyer’s 1952 dated German Republic ID booklet with a photograph of him at 26 years old.
● Wehrmeyer’s HJ belt & buckle, Size marked 100. Name West is etched into back of buckle. Both belt and buckle are in really great shape. 236 stamped next to size. Opposite clasp is maker marked OC.
● Photograph of him and a friend at a young age.
● Small paper with stamp and Berlin post-stamp.
This is an astounding grouping to a young man who went through several years in the HJ and almost definitely saw combat towards the end of WWII, as he was 18 by 1944. This is an amazing group ready for further research and display!

HJ believed German youth to be the future of his 3rd Reich. The HJ (jugend) was formed officially in 1935, and with the exception of NSDAP ideology indoctrination was very similar to the Boy Scouts. Beginning at about the age of ten years, both boys (jugend) and girls (Bund Deutscher Mädel) were enlisted in the Party-run organization. The boys only were given HJ Knives after having passed minor exams. The knives had nickeled hilts with black checkered grip plates. The obverse plate was fitted with an enameled HJ swas insignia. Through 1937, these knives were etched with the motto of the organization, Blut und Ehre! (Blood and Honor!). Examples produced after this date were made with plain blades usually bearing an RZM marking.
The HJ Leaders were professionals in charge of the training and NSDAP education of the German Youth. They wore a special dagger consisting of silvered hilt fittings with blue-black leather-covered scabbard. The grip was composed of tightly wrapped silver wire, over a wood base. The pommel cap featured an HJ diamond on top, complete with swas. The upper scabbard fitting portrayed an open-winged HJ eagle with swas cut into the bird’s chest. The blade was etched with the HJ motto, Blut und Ehre!
