Original Item: Only One Set of Two Available. This is a fantastic unissued German WWII Army decal set, made up of the standard “National Colors” decal and the Silver Wehrmacht Eagle. These would be affixed to the right and left sides of the helmet, respectively. While the right side was officially discontinued for some branches in 1940, the unused decals were not disposed of, and were found after the war at the various helmet factories and decal producers.
Both of these decals show a lovely patina of age, caused by the slow deterioration of the lacquer and other components used to make them. These are intended as display pieces only, and we have no way of knowing if they are still viable as decals. The national colors decal has yellowed quite a bit, with the white now almost beige, and the red almost orange. There is a bit of flaking near a fold in the paper backing.
The Silver Wehrmacht Eagle shows a bit less yellowing, though it does have some flaking on the “right” wing. We have consulted pictures of known decal manufacturers, and believe this example is by C.A. Pocher, a known manufacturer of decals, and also one of the two makers whose decals are found unapplied on the surplus market. We based this on the specific aspects of the eagle’s “right” claw. Please consult the pictures for details. We have tried various methods to get the best picture, which is hard due to the reflective properties of the eagle.
A great aged set, ready to add to your collection and display!
