Original Item: Only One Available. The K-98 dress bayonet was a dress version of the combat style. It was worn by enlisted and NCO personnel. The bayonet was finished with a high-quality nickel plating, black checkered bakelite grip plates and black painted scabbard. The choice of blade length was left to the purchaser, being nickel-plated short or long version. There was a red or green colored felt insert in the rifle slot and the bayonet was suspended from a black or brown leather frog.
This fine Heer (Army) example has a nice hilt, having nickel plating which still remains in 80% condition. The plating shows age. The mortise button and blade release are frozen. There is an original red colored felt strip in the rifle slot. The grip plates are the black checkered type, both being in solid condition. They are retained by nickel-plated steel rivets which have dressed heads on the obverse.
The scabbard is straight throughout and has black paint. This paint is still 60%. Attached to the scabbard is a nice black leather frog. A very nice scabbard and frog combination.
The blade is a fine nickel-plated example still being bright throughout and in near excellent condition. The original brown leather blade washer is in place.
A very nice 98k Heer dress bayonet.
