Original Item. Only One Available. Made from heavy burlap cloth, this is a German WWII Issue Army Ration Grain Sack, measuring approximately 49″H x 27″W when flat. A steady supply of food was vital to any fighting force, and sacks were the preferred way of transporting grain, which has not changed much since WWII. One side of the sack has a stencil identifying is correct usage and date of manufacture:
H. Vpfl.
1937
This is the German Abbreviation for Heeres Verpflegung, or “Army Rations”. The other side has a large stenciled Wehrmachtadler (Armed forces eagle).
Condition is very good, especially considering the age, with the expected light staining and wear from use. There are some areas of fraying, but no tears or repairs that we can see.
A very interesting piece of German WWII militaria, ready to display!
