Original Item: Only One Available. This is a beautiful German captured Soviet Russian WW2 issued leather Map case with German maps. All compartments, snaps and buckles are in good functional condition. Center pocket divider is burlap/canvas. Dates from about 1940.
This map case was captured by a German soldier in the Wehrmacht somewhere on the Eastern Front, due to the fact that the maps contained inside are Eastern Front locations.
The maps featured in the case are locations of Ukraine, Germany, various Russian locations, North Afrika, Eastern Slovakia and Middle Eastern Countries. All maps vary in size and condition all without any significant damage.
Maps were key when it came to planning operations, troop movements as well as attacks. It was important to keep them dry and safe, so when this German officer came across a Soviet Soldier no longer using their map case, he repurposed it for his own personal use.
