Original Item: Only One Available. This is a classic example of a WWII German Officer’s black leather great coat with military features. It is nicely broken in, showing a good amount of period wear. The coat features a fur-lining and two Hauptmann (Captain) Epaulets / Shoulder boards. The jacket has all period pebbled buttons. There was once a tag under the collar but it has since faded away.
The button attached style company officers schulterklappen (shoulder boards or epaulets) attached to this greatcoat are constructed with two rows of fine silver flatware “Russia Braid” double piping, with Karmesinrot (carmine red or crimson) piping and straps. This is the Waffenfarbe (Corps Color) during WWII for “General Staff” for both the Heer Army and Luftwaffe Air Force. There are two silver “pips” installed on each, indicating the officer rank of Hauptmann (Head man), equivalent to a U.S. Army / Air Force captain.
The collar of the jacket is black fur-lined, the center is white fur-lined, and the bottom is brown fur-lined. There is no visible maker’s mark anywhere on the jacket, and the epaulets are connected to small stitchings on the shoulders. What is unique about this Coat are the military features which indicate this Coat was specifically made with a military officer as its intended wearer. For one, the coat has pebbled buttons secured on each shoulder to use with shoulder boards. The jacket is certainly meant for use during the winter months. The leather on the cuffs is a bit damaged but overall the jacket looks good.
Offered in fair original condition, this is an exceptional wartime coat showing signs of honest use and storage age. Comes ready for further research and display.
