Original Item: Only One Available. WWII German Mountain Troops (Gebirgsjager) Engineer (Pioneer) Non-Comissioned Officer’s Uniform, Wartime-Converted Austrian Army Enlisted Uniform pressed into German Heer (Army) Service. The German military captured all varieties of military equipment from all over Europe; weapons, vehicles, uniforms, and equipment of all types were captured, and in turn, reissued/repurposed/reused by the German military. Following the Annexation of Austria in 1938, large stocks of Austrian Military supplies were acquired by the Wehrmacht, who in turn reissued/reused the items.
This uniform is an excellent example of a former Austrian Army Uniform Tunic converted for German Army use. The tunic has had a Bottle-Green M-36 National Emblem applied to the chest, sewn-in M-36 Shoulder Boards( with insignia denoting the rank of oberfedlwebel), and Pioneer Officer Collar Litzen (which was a matter of personal preference in some cases by NCO’s wanting a snappier appearance). An Iron Cross 2nd Class Ribbon is affixed to the second buttonhole.
The interior has some faint maker’s markings and size stamps. The Tunic is in very good condition, showing some light mothing here and there, and a few period field repairs.
