Original Item: Only One Available. Measuring 16.85″ (428 mm) with the scabbard on, this dagger features a 10.4″ (265 mm) nickel-plated steel blade, magnetic, with sharpened edges and having a semi-sharp tip. The blade’s reverse ricasso is maker marked E. & F. Horster & Co Gmbh, Solingen, with the company’s downward pointing sword and interlocking HHS initials. It retains its crossgraining, in addition to scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, natural shine, with scattered surface wear, better than very fine. The dark brown finished leather washer at the crossguard junction exhibits crazing but remains intact.
Bright aluminum hilt fittings includes the embellished pommel and eagle crossguard, the surfaces on both exhibiting very minor contact marks. The silvered metal ferrule is magnetic and emblazoned with a repeating oak leaf motif. Ivory celluloid grip exhibits minor yellowing on its reverse, with nine rows of silver springy wire in the recesses of the ribbing.
The handle with a portapee wrapped around it in the appropriate fashion, the knot and cord in aluminum wire and exhibiting minimal fraying at the base of the knot, the dagger measuring 15.4″ (392 mm) overall.
Silvered metal scabbard is magnetic, with a traditional pebbled finish, the chape with a cluster of three oak leaves and acorns motif on both sides, terminating in a ball finial, the throat retained by a single mounted screw, Aluminum oak leaf bands with rings, the scabbard without dents and measuring 11.6″ (295 mm).
Also included is a wonderful complete set of hangers with excellent detail in fantastic condition which are nicely marked on each hook D.R.G.M and one the main connector U.F. 10 with an RZM circle.
Overall condition for dagger and all components is considered better than very fine, this is not one to miss!
