Original Items: Included in this set is a pair of white laminated wood skis and white metal poles with large wheel style baskets. These are genuine 1950’s era Norwegian Military issue (Norway produced much of Germany’s WW2 Skis). However, these skis bear a striking resemblance to German WW2 Mountain trooper issue; see “Uniforms and Traditions of the German Army 1933-1945” by Angolia and Schlicht, volume 3 pages 226-227, that show the skis in photographic detail.
IMA is offering these skis complete with a nearly identical binding system to German WW2 issue. In appearance, these skis are virtually identical to WW2 era and for added pizzazz we have stamped a Waffen amt mark directly above the toe portion of the binding (same location as German WW2 Issue) to provide fodder for a good story around the Mountain cabin fireplace. Each binding is marked “BERGANS”, a well-known Norwegian wartime ski manufacturer who dates back to the earliest days of ski production. Original WW2 issue skis hardly ever come to market and bring considerable prices, so this is a fantastic and affordable opportunity.
Ski lengths vary but most range between 72″-82″ (180 cm-210 cm) and have the correct WW2 steel tip. Here is the next best thing for your collection, the same model skis but post war production with simulated WW2 markings, ready to display but alas are not recommended for use. Very few sets only. Note: Bindings do not include steel cord retaining loops. Set includes 2 skis and 2 poles.
