Original Items: Only One Set of 3 Available. This is a fantastic opportunity to add some genuine German WWI and WWII binoculars to your collections! They are often overlooked but were a necessity during the wars.
Binoculars have a long history of military use. Galilean designs were widely used up to the end of the 19th century when they gave way to porro prism types. Binoculars constructed for general military use tend to be more rugged than their civilian counterparts. They generally avoid fragile center focus arrangements in favor of independent focus, which also makes for easier, more effective weatherproofing. Prism sets in military binoculars may have redundant aluminized coatings on their prism sets to guarantee they don’t lose their reflective qualities if they get wet.
Binoculars Included:
– 2x WW1 Feldglas 08: This 6×25 field glass is pre WWII manufactured and of superior quality to wartime examples. Small field glasses were highly preferred by German officers due to their convenience. This example still has clear optics and a leather neck strap, which is broken. It is faintly marked on the central adjustment but we can barely make out Feldglas 08 and possibly a maker. They were painted red, more than likely after the war, possibly for civilian use. The other pair, painted black, unfortunately does not have the central adjustment knob and the maker cannot be identified.
– WW2 Hensoldt Wetzlar Dienstglas 6×30: These we believe to be early WWII and show signs of being heavily used. The only markings that remain are on the rear left plate: Hensoldt/Wetzlar and on the right plate: 310742/M. They appear to have been repainted at some point, more than likely postwar for civilian use.
These 3 are excellent examples of genuine service utilized binoculars from the First and Second World War. Comes ready to complete your Officer groupings!
