Original Item: Only One Available. German WWI Ersatz bayonets with their original 12″ blades are very hard to find today, as many were officially shortened to 10″, such as these two. The classic work by J.ANTHONY CARTER, GERMAN BAYONETS, VOLUME THREE published in 1992 is the complete work covering all types of WWI Ersatz bayonets and cherished by bayonet collectors everywhere.
Anthony Carter’s Reference EB45 appearing on Page 109, and EB47 appearing on Pages 111-113, are the models we offer here. Both have stamped two piece steel hilts, with a 12 inch fullered blades, officially later shortened to 10″, which bear imperial proofs on the spines. The Type EB45 with the ribbed grip is also also marked 7119 on the cross guard. Both come with standard Mauser style steel scabbards.
J. Anthony Carter died in 2001 but his four volume work is acknowledged as the supreme reference work on the subject most especially the Ersatz Volume (No.3) which was his great passion throughout his lifetime.
