Original Items: Only One Set of Two Available. Several years ago IMA acquired a large bayonet collection from a very enthusiastic European collector. Some of these we have decided to sell in small groups, giving starting collectors a great chance to pick up a few bayonets to get started with collecting.
German WWI Ersatz bayonets with their original 12″ blades are very hard to find today, as many were officially shortened to 10″, often before being shipped to WWI ally Turkey. The classic work by J.ANTHONY CARTER, GERMAN BAYONETS, VOLUME THREE published in 1992 is the complete work covering all types of WWI Ersatz bayonets and cherished by bayonet collectors everywhere.
Here we have a set of two steel hilted ersatz bayonets, both with split muzzle rings and heavily reinforced cross guards. One is in the original 12″ configuration, while the second has been shortened to 10″. Both are in very good condition, with green painted hilts, and come with their original scabbards.
J. Anthony Carter died in 2001 but his four volume work is acknowledged as the supreme reference work on the subject most especially the Ersatz Volume (No.3) which was his great passion throughout his lifetime.
A nice set of Ersatz Bayonets, complete with scabbards and ready to add to your collection!
