Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition, turn of the century pickelhaube-style German Fire helmet, with a boiled leather body, brass front plate (wappen), brass central comb, and brass fittings. This example also features more sturdy steel front and rear visors, with the correct brass trim. The front central plate has a shield with the mirrored FF symbol, the standard emblem for German Firefighting units. The shield has crossed axes behind it, as well as a rope and ladder, standard fire symbols used worldwide.
The helmet still has a complete black leather liner, though the original top tie strap has torn through. There are markings written on the inside of the shell, but we have not been able to read them. The chin strap is present, but the buckle end tore through, so the buckle is missing. The leather body has the expected crazing and checking from age, but still presents very well.
This is an unusual and very attractive item. Offered in very good condition. Size is not marked but we estimate it to be around 55-56 cm.
