Original Item: Proper seating of cartridges in machine gun belts has always been important to prevent jams. This is especially true of the fabric belts used widely in WW1. IMA has a few German Maxim seating gauges. The base of the cartridge should reach to the bottom of the large rectangular notch while the two tapered pins fit into the two rivets nearest the edge of the belt. The gauge is shown in Dolf Goldsmith?s The Devil?s Paintbrush, 2002 Edition, Figure 240.
We?ve divided our gauges into three groups: (1) Well-marked gauges manufactured by DWM; These are type (2) Well-marked gauges without manufacturer marking; (3) unmarked gauges.
