Original Item: Only One Available. Almost certainly a WW2 USGI bring back this is a German target rifle of incredible quality intended for recreational shooting in the latter part of the 19th century.

Known as Schuetzen rifles, these were named after the German military term of the time basically referring to “snipers”. These rifles were most often based on the falling block Martini system and, as can be seen with this example, great lengths were taken to achieve extreme accuracy. Note the extremely profiled stock and set trigger system employed on this piece. The overall finish was always of the highest quality and in this example the case hardening on the action is remarkable.

Signed by GEORG MEIER , Meisterschaftsbuchse, WEIDEN, this city the full name of which is WEIDEN IN DER OBERPFALZ, lies about 100 kilometers east of NURMEMBERG in Bavaria almost on the Czech Border.

Manufactured in approximately .22 caliber the only deficiency is the lack of the detachable tang rear sight assembly, a tragedy, but that’s the way it is. In wonderful almost untouched condition beautifully preserved with at least 125 years of age making this a most unique and desirable collector’s item.
