Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice “salty” service worn WWII German Wehrmacht (Heer) black leather belt with the correct Pre-WWII Aluminum EM/NCO’s Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß). The buckle is embossed with the Heer motto GOTT MIT UNS (“God (is) with us”) around the Wehrmacht Reichsadler (State Eagle). Nice aluminum construction box buckle with a pebbled background. The buckle is in good condition, and is a single piece injection molded and crimped example. It does show some surface wear, common due to the softer aluminum alloy.
This buckle was originally entirely painted early war Heer olive green, and while this is almost completely gone on the front, the rear still still shows a good amount. There is no maker mark on the back, and while it retains the pre-1941 leather tab, the maker mark is to worn to read.
The leather belt shows extensive use in service, and lots of wear as well as modifications, measuring about 41 inches when fully extended. There are no maker or other markings that we can see. The leather tab with 7 pairs of holes for size adjustment is present, but the stitching is completely pulled, so it is not attached to the belt anymore. There are also pairs of holes towards the outside of the belt, probably for an officer’s or earlier type of buckle that was used with the belt for a time. The finish is worn on both sides, and there is some cracking and other damage from wear. This is really a belt with a long and interesting history!
Really a great “Salty” example that was used almost to the point of destruction. Ready to display!
