Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition lightly used original German WWII Early-War Style National Socialist Party Ärmelbinde (Armband), brought home by a U.S.G.I. after the war. The National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers’ Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.
The party’s last leader, AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.
This standard armband was worn by members, and was also worn by many service members and other personnel during the war. It is in lightly worn condition, with some fold marks from storage, as well as a few light stains. There is also some black thread looped through, probably used to attach it to a uniform at some point.
The armband measures approximately 16 1/4″ x 4 1/4″, with the ends sewn together. It is of multi-piece construction, unlike later variants, which were printed onto the armband. The black Swas (Hook Cross) is made from two pieces of cloth, folded and sewn to the white background, which is a separate piece as well. This is sewn to the standard red background armband.
This is a very nice issued example of a mid-war NSDAP multi piece Party Armband, ready to add to your collection!
