Original item: Only One Available. This is a very nice set of 1916 French 8 x 24 trench binoculars, made in Puteaux by the Société de Recherches et de Perfectionnements Industriels (Society of Industrial Research and Development or SRPI). MG means Ministère de la Guerre (Ministry of War).
Nicely marked on the right side with the magnification information:
8 X 24
DECIGRADES
The left side has the manufacturer markings and serial number:
M.G.
S.R.P.I.
No. 8896
Both sides of the Binoculars have clear optics, however both eye cups are missing, and the diopter adjustments are frozen. The eye width adjustment does work, however the “handle” has broken off around the “lock” that holds it in place with swung down.
Also included is the original 12″ x 5″ x 5″ thick leather carry case with strap, which also has some split seams and other wear. The closure strap/spring is broken, but it is still very effective at protecting the binoculars.
A very nice set at a nice affordable price. Ready to display!
