DVD: The time is January 22nd-23rd 1879, the place is Rorke’s Drift South Africa, the story is one of the greatest engagements in British Military history after which eleven Victoria Crosses were awarded. Perhaps the best war film ever made. The battle features the P-1871 Martin-Henry Rifle. This should be a part of every Military Historian’s library.
I.M.A. carries much of the equipment seen in this film: not the film’s props, but the actual equipment used by the soldiers in 1879 at the Battle of Rorke’s Drift.
